What Is A CTA?
A call-to-action (CTA) in digital marketing is the desired task you want the viewer to complete. It should be clear what you are asking them to do and it should be to the point.
A CTA can be found in multiple areas.
1. On your social media posts - typically it's the last sentence someone sees.
2. In your emails - It's typically sprinkled throughout the email
3. Strategically placed throughout your online pages (via a button) - We will be showing you more about this later into the course.
4. Used in a lead magnet to invite people to join you
A CTA is used to invite your prospect to continue their journey with you and to go to the next step.
How To Craft Together A Solid CTA
1. Know Your Goal - to have a solid CTA that works, there needs to be a well-defined goal. Ask yourself, "What do i want to achieve when someone reads my CTA?" Do you want to increase sales? Subscriptions? Give someone a lead magnet that has a solution for them.
Once you’ve determined your goal, you need to think about how you’re going achieve it using a CTA.
2. Use strong action verbs - This is the time to be very straightforward with the words you use in your CTA's.
A CTA will typically not have more than 5 - 7 words. This is so your message doesn't get muddy but remains clear and easy to understand. Additionally, there's typically not a lot of space to write it in, so you gotta keep it short.
Using strong command verbs will let your audience know what you want them to do.
Start your call to action with words like “download,” “click here,” or “join” to drive people to perform your desired action.
3. Focus on value and benefits - An effective CTA will also mention what the value is that someone is getting. So if it's a guide, tell them. If it's the opportunity to join a group, name the group.
